Is there gossip about your character Byerly should know?

ORLAIS:

About eighteen years ago, the Baroness of Val Revin fell dangerously ill, under suspicion of poison from the Florents. The effects lingered, and the de Revins were able to bribe their way into hosting a mage healer from Montsimmard Circle.

Isaac was chosen as something of a snub: being young, not an Enchanter, and of Fereldan blood.

The Baroness' health improved given continual maintenance, and the arrangement lasted some three years before her death. During that time, Isaac frequently advised the young Lord and Lady of the house, and very occasionally accompanied them outside the Estate.

When the new Baroness de Revin fell sick under less serious, though similar circumstance, things were about to get ugly with the Florents.

Thankfully, it was totally definitely discovered that Isaac was the culprit, and had been attempting to instigate conflict to confirm his position.

Imprisoned, and subsequently transferred to Ghislain Circle instead of being hanged because of the de Revins' gracious charity, and, you know. Mages.

Everyone lived happily ever after, and now the Florents' eldest son is engaged to be wed to the de Revins' eldest daughter.

Can he bring this up in private conversation with your character?
Sure!

Totally.

Is there anything about your character that would be listed in intelligence reports?

Volunteered to serve at Griffon-Wing Keep for two years before transfer to Kirkwall. A dependable medic, but not a combatant.

Participated in the Mage Strike.

FERELDEN:
The son of common Fereldens (the O’Kellars), who collaborated with the Orlesian occupation/informed on some people, and subsequently fled to Jader.

CIRCLES:

Taken to the Circle after making his siblings dangerously ill.

Joined the Loyalists when transferred to Ghislain, began narcing on other mages & ignoring templar misconduct.

Sold out some former Loyalists during the Rebellion. Funneled information to extremist groups.

Is your character interested in espionage/engaged in espionage?

He likes spy novels. He would not like to be a spy, that sounds dangerous and awful.

That said: He takes an opportunistic approach to squirreling info/trading on it where possible.

Could they be cultivated into an intelligence asset for Ferelden - e.g., seduced and/or bribed into giving information willingly?

Possibly! He’s wary of bribery, and primarily motivated by fear. But also really, really would like to screw over Orlais.
